I can’t spend all of my time writing. My love of movement, which began with more than a dozen years of dance classes in my childhood, turned into a passion for all things fitness in my 20s, particularly Pilates and yoga. In 2007 I completed a 500-hour Pilates certification for mat and equipment work through Body Tonic, a Brooklyn-based studio that offered East and West Coast style training. In 2010 I received my 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher status from YogaWorks, a studio that offers Iyengar-influenced instruction. Because both of these specific styles focus on alignment, my classes are designed to increase body awareness, strength, and coordination through clear instruction and precise, safe positioning. Currently I teach classes at Rodale, publisher of Women’s Health, Men’s Health, and Runner’s World magazines, in midtown Manhattan.
