This brought back nostalgic memories of my own experiences in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. In particular the dreadful ‘normality’ of AIDS. Although real statistics are hard to come by, I think that about 1 child in 5 is infected with HIV in these countries. On the plus side there are now many agencies trying to bring that number down, by education mainly (as you have mentioned) and by making drugs available. Enjoy the rest of your trip – if nothing else, try to get a day or afternoon in the Nairobi Game Park. It seems to get pretty well every size and shape of animal, in spite of its relatively small area!
